CHIP CHAIR IS A WINNER!!!

Some other manufacturers using cheaper materials or technologies, were able to make folding chairs in polypropilene using METALLIC insert to give them strenght as they can't get the plastic right!!! Why is this a bad idea? First you have a chair that is VERY HEAVY, UN-NECESSARY HEAVY, and second... when plastic is injected in the mold, it shrinks during the cooling process, while the metallic insert inside does not. This leaves residual tension in the plastic around the metallic insert, causing less impact resistance.

CHAIRS WITH METALLIC INSERTS ARE NOT STRONGER. THEY ONLY LOOK MORE RIGID BUT DEFINITELY THEY ARE NOT STRONGER.

We tested our basic CHIP chairs (NOT the new fiberglass added upgraded version) against the BEST chair with metallic insert in the legs, and here's what we found:

DYNAMIC/Chair Drop Functional Load

A 300 lb weight is positioned 6” above the seat of the chair and allowed to free-fall onto the center of the seat.

100% Drake Chip chairs remain intact!!!
60% of the best NON Drake chairs with metallic insert FAIL (the seat breaks)

STATIC/vertical static load testings
DRAKE/Chip chairs average load before failure: 2200 lbs.
BEST non Drake chair with metallic insert in the legs average load before failure: 1500 lbs.

MOREOVER: PLASTIC WITH A METALLIC INSERT IS NOT EASILY RECYCLABLE, as it is costly to separate the plastic from the metal... and.... we should respect the environment shouldn't we? After all we live in a very small world...
